My Favorite Modern Mom & New Baby Essentials
Whether you are a first-time mom or a seasoned mom going at it for a second, third, or fourth time, anything on this list will be helpful for you. I am currently in the trenches with a new baby myself and all of these items have proven to be super useful!
This list goes beyond the diaper bag, infant car seat, and cloth diapers. This post covers the baby products the other lists don’t tell you about. The products that are helpful, modern, and offer a sense of ease to the early days with a newborn.

Solly Baby Wraps
Love this for the early days to keep baby close for contact naps, the only way I can get things done! Ps it’s totally normal for baby to want to sleep on you and be near you 24/7, if you need a break let your partner know but other than that if you are ok with being with baby constantly that’s normal and OK!! 🙂
Solly wraps are my favorite out of all the wraps because the material is soft, stretchy and durable — I still use my first one I ever got (in 2018 with my first!) and it’s still like new, PLUS they have lots of beautiful floral and other patterns now which I love!

Charlie Crane Rocker & Wooden Toy Bar
People rolled their eyes when I chose this rocker over all the others on the market but once they saw how comfy and cozy it is for baby and how much the baby loves it, they change their tunes! Plus it is so beautiful — a true piece of art that looks stunning in any home.
I have used this same rocker with all three of my babies, and even at 6 years old it’s like new.
If you want a place to put your baby down that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing, this rocker is it! We are still using it daily at 5+ months with my third and tbh my three and six year olds still try to cuddle up in it when the baby isn’t in it haha.
Baby Bjorn Bouncer
Third time around we got this second bouncer! It was great to be able to have a few options for where to put baby down; she definitely prefers the Charlie Crane rocker but we are still using both daily at 6 months, and I love the breathable mesh material!
Nuna PIPA & Nuna RAVA Carseats & Nuna MIXX Stroller
NUNA by far is my brand of choice when it comes to car seats and strollers! Their quality and design style is unmatched, plus the materials look and feel luxurious while also being easily cleanable even in a pinch (we’ve had our fair share of moments over the last 6 years!).
Namesake Glider
Finally splurged on this for my third and it’s AMAZING. Beautiful, functional and comfy, we have spent many hours cuddling and nursing in this chair already.
Love to Dream Swaddle UP
This is our go-to “swaddle” for the early months! None of my babes liked being in the traditional swaddle so when I discovered this one it was a game changer, they actually napped not on me for more than 20 minutes haha.
Tip: Get at least two so you can wash one and still have one to use!
Merlin Magic Sleepsuit
Around 2.5-3 months all three times I’ve switched my babies over to this sleep suit and it has been amazing every time! Highly recommend. We get the small size to start and then move up to the large around 4-5 months. Around 7 months we switch over to a sleep sack!

Bodily Nursing Bras and Full Panties
This is my favorite brand for both pregnancy and postpartum undergarments! Super functional while also beautiful, buttery-soft materials and incredibly comfortable. Some bras have clips and some are pull downs which now at 6 months of nursing I definitely prefer a quick pull-down! They have bras for every stage of breastfeeding and pumping plus so much more on their site, I would definitely head there to check out more!
Momcozy Hands-Free Pump
This is a game-changer for pumping moms! To be able to just pop this in your bra and multi-tasks so great! I think the suction and battery life on this pump is awesome and it is very easy to use!
Milk Catchers
Don’t let any of that hard work producing milk go to waste. A milk catcher is essential and way more comfortable than wearing around wet fabric breast pads!
Nursing Pillow
I have a love hate relationship with nursing pillows, some days I love mine and some days I’d rather use a regular couch pillow! They’re helpful when they’re helpful, I was done using one all together around 3 months though.
Haakaa
The suction on this thing is wild so use with caution! Releasing some milk when you’re uncomfortable is ok but releasing too much can lead to oversupply problems so only use the Haakaa sparingly!
Nipple Soothing Silicone Pads & Silverette Cups
Remember, these come in different sizes so be sure to get ones that’ll work for you. They soothed those sore early-days nursing nipples so well! The key with that is to keep the nipple moist so they don’t dry and crack, but not so much that thrush can develop, plus silver is naturally antibacterial!
Fridamom C-Section Silicone Scar Patch
This is one of those items that isn’t on many lists of newborn baby essentials but I had to include it in this list of things for modern moms. I love mine because it’s helping my scar heal and acted as a protective barrier when it was still sore!
Fridamom Boy-Short Disposable Underwear
Forget the messy clean up. Buy yourself some of these and save yourself in those early days after birth, they are comfortable and disposable!
