I read recently that dahlias symbolize love, elegance, strength, creativity and change. Feels fitting for them, also feels fitting for this motherhood (and grief) journey that I’m on. Feels fitting that these last two years it’s dahlias I’ve become obsessed with growing. It just feels symbolic and I’m going with it. Can’t get enough of them ✨🌸

Ball dahlias have my heart this year 💓

Nothing in this world like some good old fashioned

Nothing in this world like some good old fashioned flower therapy 💐 my favorite part about these last few weekends running the flower truck is seeing the beautiful creations everyone makes, and seeing the joy on their face as they take home their little spot of joy. Play with the flowers, make your own bouquet, grow a garden, it just feels right. Flowers are magic 💫 @wildirisflowertruck

This photo was taken during our pregnancy announcement shoot for Liam just over two years ago. It’s always been a special photo but tonight I realized why I love it so much. I knelt and held Luca like this on the morning Liam died. This is the exact position I was in when I told Luca to say goodbye to his brother. The photo was taken weeks before the goodbye but when I look at it that’s all I see. And whenever something reminds me of my son, even though it may be painful, I hold on to it. It’s all I have of him.

It’s not fair that he died. It’s not fair I had to tell my son to say goodbye to his brother. It’s not fair that it hurts so much and it always will. I will always grieve my son, everyday for the rest of my life because I love him. And that’s what I want people to understand. When someone you love dies you don’t stop loving them. The love morphs into grief and you carry that with you forever. And it’s different everyday. All I can do is recognize the grief, sit with it, honor it, don’t try to reason with it, don’t run from it and don’t rush it.

And I don’t need a designated day to say his name, in our house we say Liam’s name daily. But this day, this worldwide acknowledgement, this is nice to have for a feeling of togetherness and connection with other parents who unfortunately know the shittiness. And to see the people who love us remembering our babies with us.

My wish is for no bereaved parent to ever feel alone and for no baby to ever be forgotten. So tonight I honor all the babies gone too soon along with Liam for Wave of Light and on this pregnancy and infant loss awareness day, and every day.

Just a mom, who loves growing flowers, and sharing the love with fellow flower lovers. This dream of mine wouldn’t be possible without my amazing mom who watched the kids this weekend, my husband who helps me grow the flowers and take care of the truck, the awesome venue of @harvestmoonorchard, and all of YOU, whether you support me from near or far! Just feeling sentimental and thankful. And mentally light, for the first time in a long time. Big thank you vibes to all 💗
